CALENDAR AGE IS MEANINGLESS

Medical science once had us believe that man’s power peaked at age of twenty five and that at the age of sixty five he was well past his prime. The elderly were expected to retire mentally and physically and wait out their remaining days around the garden or rocking away the hours on the front porch.

Today, we have more sense than to place an age restriction on man’s productiveness and usefulness. Man is past his prime when he instills a negative attitude to age as ‘fact’ in his subconscious mind. If any man is convinced that a certain age he belongs in a rocking chair in a convalescent home, then that is where he will end up. There is truth in the often-Quoted statement: Man thinks himself into old age.

Calendar age is meaningless. I know youthful looking men and women in their mind eighties who act as though life is just beginning for them. These happy people continually express the desire to meet new friends, take on new challenges and absorb further knowledge. Any suggestion that they retire from life would be they rejected. Their aim is to experience life more abundantly and this they do, help by their refusal to ‘give in ‘ to so called ‘old age’.`

TALK YOURSELF OUT OF BEING A FAILURE.

If you find yourself muttering: ‘I could get that job if i were the right age . . .’ or ‘I’ll find happiness when i retire . . .’ or ‘I have great ideas but no sense bothering with them, i’m too old,’ then you are talking yourself into becoming a failure. You are limiting your ‘chance in life’ because of an erroneous idea that’age’ is a deterrent to success. The only real chance you ever have is the chance you give your life. You make your own breaks. Give yourself a real chance in life by accepting that you can experience health. Happiness and at any age if you believe you can.

YOU’RE WASHED UP WHEN YOU SAY SO.

The reason some individuals are happy, healthy and prosperous and others are not, is because the two types ‘think differently. You are ‘washed up’ when you believe this to be true.

Success is not limited to any one age group not the very young, the middle aged or the elderly;success is an opportunity presented to all mankind, regardless of age. Implant this truth in your deeper mind and remind yourself of it often.

THE SUBCONSCIOUS MIND NEVER GROW OLD.

Your subconscious mind knows nothing of time or space, as it is one with the mind of God, Which is Infinite.

Old-age is a relative term. In terms of health, sick people are old and healthy people are young. There are old young people and young old people. Your real age is determined by the way you think, feel and act. Age is a state of mind. You begin to deteriorate mentally and physically when you lose interest in the things that are important in life: meeting new friends, visiting new places and accepting new challenges. If you contemplate retiring from business, don’t let your mind and body deteriorate stay active mentally and physically. Give attention to interest in things beyond yourself and your mind and body will reflect this in health, happiness and youthfulness.

FOLLOW CARY GRANT’S ADVICE.

In terms of calendar age Cary Grant is well past sixty, yet he presents a picture of a man in his forties. Grant keeps in excellent physical condition not only by regular exercise but by ‘thinking’ young.

Asked by a magazine editor how he managed to stay so healthy and trim year after year, Grant replied, ‘I think thin’.

Follow Cary Grant’s ‘think’ suggestion to bring order, harmony health and balance into your own life.

THINK ENERGY

THINK HEALTH

THINK PROSPERITY

THINK LIFE ON A GRAND SCALE

THINK YOUNG

LATE STARTERS WHO SUCCEED AND SO CAN YOU.

You have something worthwhile to contribute to this life regardless of past failure or present age.

Almost half of the top executives in any country are between the ages of fifty five and ninety. the top echelon of government, education, religion and science is beyond middle age. Many geniuses were well past thirty before getting started. Albert Einstein, for example, was in his thirties before his mathematical genius was recognized. Grandma Moses was a late contributor to the art world; she began painting at the age of eighty. At the same age, Socrates, the Greek philosopher, learned to play various musical instruments. Michelangelo was painting masterpieces at eighty. George Bernard Shaw wrote plays at the age of ninety. Robert Frost continued to write poetry until his death in 1963 he was eighty nine. Henry Ford maintained: ‘you take all experience and judgement of men over fifty out out of the world and there wouldn't be enough left to run it.’

COMPLETED HIGH SCHOOL AT SEVENTY.

In 1962, a 70 years old former Los Angels businessman came out of retirement to accomplish his lifelong goal of completing high school and college.

He attended Los Angeles Adult High school for three years, received his diploma and then went on to major in history at Los Angles city College. Age was no deterrent to the accomplishment of this dream.

RETIRE FROM BUSINESS BUT NOT FROM LIFE.

Those who seem to escape the general pitfalls of old age are those who continue to work, produce and look forward to new challenges regardless of their calendar years. The quickest way to ‘age’ is to become bored with life. When you activate a genuine interest in your work and your surroundings, you have no time to become bored. Be an enthusiast for life. If you are retiring from business, don’t retire from life.

The average life expectancy is three years after retirement at sixty five. this is because many retired people have no interests; they are bored with life. If you become a participant in life instead of a spectator, you’ll find yourself enjoying life more and you’ll be adding to your years.

The way you think and feel, your genuine interest in your surroundings, your friends, your job, are the things that keep you young in mind and body. Get an active interest in something anything and keep your life active.

Find an interesting hobby, a part time job. Join a charity organisation, a church group or club. Take an active interest to occupy your time.

Don’t let your mind gather cobwebs and die on the vine. Remember: You begin life with far more brain cells than you use there is always a reserve. Use that reserve to ‘think’ your way to greater health and grater happiness by becoming interested and active in some project. It will put more life into your years and more years into life.

WHAT YOU BELIEVE ABOUT YOURSELF COMES TRUE.

Dr.Maxwell Maltz in his excellent book Psycho-Cybernetics* explains that when we curtail mental and social activities we become, ‘set in our ways, bored and give up our great expectations’. And, comments Dr Maltz:

‘I have no doubt but that you could take a healthy man of thirty and within five years make “old”, that all physical activity was futile. If you could induce him to sit in a rocking chair all day, give up all his dreams for the future, give up all interest in new ideas and regard himself as “washed up”, “worthless”, unimportant and non productive, I am sure that you could experimentally create an old man.’

Whatever you ‘believe’ about yourself, that belief will manifest in one physical from or another at some future time in your life. you begin to really experience ‘life’ when you allow your mind to think in terms of ‘more living’ and not ‘more retiring’. Think in terms of youth and vitality,in terms of beauty and harmony, joy and happiness and riches and prosperity. When you instill these affirmative attitudes into your subconscious mind, your circumstance and environment respond accordingly step up to success today. Start now to really live. You are as young and as successful as you think and believe yourself to be.
